KENYAN PSV’S HIKE BUS FARE
Public Service Vehicles (PSV’s) have announced a 30% increase in bus fares across the various routes in the country.
Addressing the press on Tuesday, the Matatu Owners Association, chairperson, Albert Karacha said the decision was arrived at, following the increase of the fuel levy from 8% to 16%.
”We are cognizant to the global economic crisis that has affected many sectors. As matatu operators, we have been grappling with mounting financial pressures, especially the hike in fuel prices that threatens the viability of our business,” said Karacha.
Karacha saying they recognize that passengers are already grappling with financial burdens and have undertaken this fare adjustment as a last resort.
