KENYA’S HEALTH FACILITIES CENSUS

The Ministry of Health is seeking to improve health service provision by determining the state of various health facilities through an ongoing census.

The census is assessing the state of equipment and manpower in the various hospitals with a view to linking patients to hospitals based on their needs.

Principal Secretary for the State Department of Public Health and Professional Standards, Mary Muthoni, said the exercise is part of the government’s agenda on health that among other things seeks to move from curative to preventive mode.

She added that the exercise will target 15,000 hospitals both public, private and faith-based institutions as more often than not they complement each other.
