RISING MYSTERIOUS BODABODA RIDERS’ DEATHS
Members of Parliament have raised concern over the rising spate of killings of bodaboda riders across the country.
The legislators categorically said those targeted are the ones operating motorbikes bought on credit in a suspected collusion between the creditors and gangs.
While contributing to an adjournment motion in Parliament Thursday, Teso South MP Mary Emaase claimed that the riders are attacked immediately after they clear or are about to clear their loans.
Her sentiments were echoed by Tigania West MP John Kanyuithia who called for an urgent introduction of legislation to protect businesses that are vulnerable such as boda boda to ensure they run their businesses without any fear.
Embakasi West MP Mark Mwenje said there is a need for a legislative framework to govern the sector.
