YOUTH URGEDTO EMBRACE TVET COURSES
Youths have been urged to enroll in technical courses offered in both government and private institutions to tap more opportunities in the job market.
Dr. Salome Maina Director, Directorate of Teacher Education State Department of Education says youths should embrace TVET courses and take advantage of opportunities available through government-private partnerships in offering higher education.
Dr. Maina made the remarks during the 20th graduation ceremony at the International Teaching and Training Institution in Kitengela, Kajiado County. 800 students graduated as teachers in different cadres and a section of graduates excelled in technical courses.
The institution’s director Lukas Mkula said they have realized the potential in technical courses and are diversifying to offer more courses in that area.
Education stakeholders have lauded TVETS institutions for churning out experts needed in the society encouraging youths to embrace technical courses instead of focusing exclusively on white-collar jobs which are few.
